The Dumaguete City Stamp Collectors Club continues to promote Philately in this pandemic time. Postage Stamp collecting can be both a hobby, gaining historical knowledge and investment.
Our opening salvo this year is Mr. Josefino Tulabing. Larena Jr. a philatelist collector started in 1988 at age of eight years old, on his 33 years as a collector he is back in the post office after four years, he will show us some of his rare collection of first-day covers from circa 1973 to 1990s talking about historical events and personality in the rich history of Filipino and American Heritage during the National History Month 2021.

His grandfather the late Prof. Leoncio Buquiran Tulabing was a famous philatelist collector, educator, World War II veteran and civic leader, he was among the early postage stamp collector together with Dr. Vicente G. Sinco ,Atty Rodrigo Tugade,Juvenal Villanueva Somoza, Woodrow Serion, and ESPIRIDION Heceta
Postage Stamp collecting started during American Regime in Negros when the American missionaries introduced this hobby to the local Folks. Our Post office was well-known as the town's Post Telegraph Office (Bureau of Posts), once located near the pier entrance in the old house of Sen. Bindoy Teves Villanueva.
The Philatelic art of collecting is dedicated to the cultural, historical, and artistic impact of stamps. This exhibit hope to increase public awareness of one of the most loved hobbies of all time.
The first-day cover collection exhibit came from his uncle Edgar Bernus based in Whittier, California and Negrosanon Stamp Collector from Vallehermoso Negros Oriental. These are some of his priceless collection 350th landing of the pilgrim ship mayflower at plympouth mass 1620-1970,United Nations 1970s, United States Fort Snelling 150th Anniversary Postage Stamp Original First Day Cover # 1409 w/Cachet Fleetwood, 50th Anniversary Civilian Conservation Corps, Dwight D. Eisenhower (1890-1969) 34th United States President and The Congressional Medal of Honor Society cover issue in 1983 from American Postal Service.
The Philippine first-day cover issue from our Philippine Postal Corporation talks about the event commemoration from structures and events during the American Period.The first stop is Baguio Country Club first day cover,the was established in 1930s. the Centennial Anniversary first cover of the Silliman University.The first American School in Asia was Founded in 1901, The Manila Central Post Office first day cover which also serves as the home of the Philippine Postal Corporation and the Philatelic Museum.
Also in the exhibit is the Knights of Rizal Centennial Commemorative Stamp issue in 2016.
Historically, the Knights of Rizal stems out from the Orden de Caballeros de Rizal which was established in 1911 and was publicly listed in 1916 as a non-profit, non-political, and non-sectarian organization. For our Plantito and Plantita in this exhibit, two flower stamp series is also featured Kopsia (Kopsia fruticose from Philippines issue in 2018 and Dragon's Mouth Orchid from United States of America issue in 1984.
This exhibit was presented by Dumaguete City Post Office, The Philippine Postal Corporation,Dumaguete City Stamp Collectors Club, and Order of the Knights of Rizal Tanjay City.
